Love at First Sight

May 26, 2016

This has been my favorite "accomplishment" yet.  I have always wanted to be a mother and couldn't wait until the day we were ready to start a family!

Even though I have always looked forward to being a mother, I never wanted to be pregnant. It just didn't sound appealing, more like "dues" you had to put in.  No alcohol, gaining weight, not sleeping on your stomach, being exhausted, and not eating certain foods just sounded like 9 months of misery.  Turns out, I absolutely loved every minute of my pregnancy! It was such a neat experience, I had an easy and wonderful pregnancy with no complications.  To be honest, I felt completely normal except when I would look in the mirror or try to put on my normal clothes. What a miracle that something so delicate and complex was formed inside of me in just 9 short months!  God is so good.

First glimpse of our little nugget and we were able to see the heartbeat!
We loved sharing our news with family and friends!
The night we found out we were having a baby BOY!!
The grandparents were so excited for their first grandson!
25% creepy and 75% beautiful and amazing!
We bought a house! Can't wait to make it a home :)
Beginning of my 3rd Trimester in Reykjavik, Iceland.
8 Weeks to go, hiking along the Potomac River in Maryland.
4 Weeks to go at Wrightsville Beach, NC

Not only was my pregnancy so much better than I anticipated, but so was my labor and delivery (thanks to the epidural and a wonderful doctor)! I was induced at 9:00 am on May 26, 2016, and at 9:53 pm we welcomed Holden Matthew Walters into the world.  He weighed 7 lbs 7oz and was 20 inches long! The moment our baby boy was placed on my chest and I looked at my husband (who was holding back tears) was BY FAR, THE BEST MOMENT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE.

The greatest adventure of our lives has officially begun! We have no idea what we are doing, but we are enjoying figuring this all out together.  We love being parents and the love we have for our son is so much more than we could have ever imagined.

The Surprise of a Lifetime

Ainsley's Birth 8.25.2018 I absolutely HATE surprises.  They aren't my thing.  I am a planner and I find comfort and excitement in knowing what lies ahead.  This causes some contention in my marriage because my husband LOVES surprises.  I read the last chapter of a book before the first, I enjoy knowing what my birthday gifts are weeks in advance and I always have to look at the menu and know what I am ordering before I walk into a restaurant.  He has often tried to plan "surprises" and it always ends in an argument.  I need to plan when I'm going to straighten my hair, I need to pick out an outfit, I need to eat salads for two days so I can pig out at dinner.  I need to plan these things and the older I get the less spontaneous I am. My surprise-loving husband had brought up waiting until delivery to find out the gender of our second child.  I honestly did not care either way whether we had another son or a daughter, so I pondered the thought...

My Favorite Kiss in the Bahamas

Swim with Dolphins      Rule #1 of Life: Take advantage of the opportunity.  I love to scuba dive, the only problem is I don't have a dive buddy.  I have had several opportunities to dive and have chosen not to simply because nobody I was with was certified.  What a lame excuse! I got my certification when I was 16 and have only been on 3 dives! I finally decided I needed to take advantage of my opportunity while on vacation in the Bahamas.        I originally signed up to go on the "Shark Feeding Frenzy" dive (a month in advance before our trip!) I was so excited/pumped/exhilarated and if you know anything about me you know that sharks are my favorite animal & I have wanted to get up close and personal with them ever since I can remember.  Turns out the night before the dive I was the only person signed up for the dive and they needed at least 4 people to take the boat out.  I was SUPER bumm...

A Bird's Eye View

GO ZIP LINING      Asheville, North Carolina.  If you have never been I highly recommend it.  Good food, good beer & wine, and a laid back atmosphere with just enough to do to keep you busy.  It's not officially on my bucket list, but I have always wanted to take a weekend trip with Kenny for a couple years now.  For whatever reason we quickly run out of time in the fall/early winter to go.  For my graduation gift from PTA school, Kenny's parents gave me zip-lining tickets & Biltmore tickets for my birthday.  To " Go Zip-lining " has been on my bucket list since I got a small dose of it on a ropes course in one of my recreational classes in college.  When they told me about this place just north of Asheville I was all in. So, we finally planned our trip for late October!!        Zip-lining originated from Costa Rica as botanists needed a way to study plants in the rain forest ...
