Hot Chicken & Boots

Visit Nashville, Tennessee   10.8.15-10.12.15 There's nothing better than a girls' weekend- lounging, chatting, champagne, brunch, laughing til you are in pain, going out on the town, and making unforgettable memories.  A good girls' weekend always reminds me how lucky I am to have such amazing friends in my life, and how fun being in your 20's is.  We are living the best moments of our life, and this epic weekend in Nashville was no exception. We spontaneously booked our tickets and we were ready to see what this southern city had to offer!!   The beginning of the weekend was extra special for me, as we had just found out we were expecting! There was no way I was getting through the long weekend "faking" it, so I decided to grab coffee for everyone before our flight.... We rented a place off airbnb for the weekend.  It was in historic old Midtown area, approximately 2 miles from Broadway Street.  We loved this area as we had plenty of bars, restaur...

A Sweet Southern Summer

As Labor Day Weekend comes to an end, it's also the unofficial end to summer here in North Carolina. Hunting season and college football are in full swing and people won't shut up about pumpkin spice lattes. I have anxiety about going outside in the cold weather, I adjust my personal schedule to avoid the cold and I tend to ignore responsibilities if it requires going outside. Overall, when the leaves begin to change I become a more sluggish and grumpy version of myself.  With that being said, I tend to hold on to summer as long as possible.  You will always find me outdoors and always with a busy schedule as I try to cram as many things as possible into the longer days.  Summer is a time to enjoy the warm weather and amp up the fun! Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity  in Raleigh, NC Helping out within the community has always been on my "to do" list.  Between all the weddings and beach trips, it selfishly gets further and further down on my list.  I j...

8 Stadiums Down, 22 to Go!

See a game at Yankee Stadium On our agenda this year is to visit family & friends that live in other cities that we don't get to see as often as we would like.  If you have friends or family members that live in different cities, states, countries that you want to visit- take advantage of the opportunity!  You can knock two birds out with one stone, and also save big bucks if you don't have to pay for a place to stay.  Folks (usually) love and welcome visitors and they also know what things to do and what to recommend to make your stay more enjoyable.   We were off to visit our friends who live in New York City! Considering Kenny and I want to attend a game in all the MLB stadiums,  we obviously planned our travel dates around the Yankees' schedule.  Our first time at Yankee Stadium! 6.5.15 New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels Our 3rd MLB game together! She's such a trooper (with Lyndsey Crooke) Beautiful day for a game!! Mi...

Embracing My Inner Southern Belle in Kentucky

When I first moved to "The South" I remember thinking how phony everything was and feeling very out of place.  Southern culture seemed overwhelming and ridiculous.  Everywhere I turned there was a church,  an overly friendly female in a floral printed dress, and people saying "Bless your heart." I soon discovered that there was nothing "phony" or "ridiculous" about this different way of life.  I realized people in The South were actually genuine; down to their hospitality, faith, and their love for family and small towns. Over the past 15 years, I have come to fall in love with The South and everything it has to offer...
